Local 735 Leadership wants to thank each and every Member for their patience and understanding through these difficult and challenging times that we all are experiencing with the uncertainty of GM’s status at the National level, to the Powertrain Production Schedules and transitioning to team concept in our own plant.

Seeing and feeling your support as we walk on the plant floor and through the balconies, allows us to stay motivated as we meet to promote this facility for new work and to retain the work already in place. It means so much to us when you get a wave, a handshake, even just a nod. So thanks for the support.

Now as we promised, we need to be up-front on some new developments.

Clothing Allowance
Management has informed the Union that due to Local financial instability, the Clothing allowance for 2009 will be delayed until 4/1/09 and the full allowance of $275.00 per member can be accessed from 4/1/09 to as 12/31/09. Reminder: Don’t forget to use your 2008 allowance by Dec. 19, 2008. Because there is a strong possibility that the plant will be down 12/22 and 12/23, providing short work week benefits for both days.

The Local Community Service Committee has asked that anyone that is not going to use up their clothing allowance for 2008, do so by purchasing clothes and donate to the Clothing Drive on Dec. 18 & Dec. 19 at all plant gates.

Fitness Center
Due to lack of participation and monetary restraints the Fitness Center hours will be changed to 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 pm until further notice, starting 1/5/09.

Returning work
Due to a bankrupt supplier that supplies parts to Mexico we are beginning to run some internal components of the 300 torque converter. Details will be forthcoming as to volumes and manpower requirements.

Christmas Party and Skating Party
Christmas Party and Skating Party on 12/20/08 at Riverside Areana. The participation currently is low. Please, if you are going to go, stop by Local 735 ASAP and purchase your $3.00 tickets, which includes skating, pizza, pop, visit and gift from Santa. The hours are 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on 12/20/08 at Riverside Arena on Plymouth Rd. in Livonia. Thanks!

New Years Eve
We are trying to get 50 couples or 100 people to participate in New Years Eve event. If interested please give your name to Chairman’s Office or your Committeeman. We are at 36 couples and a few singles.
