Due to the severe economic conditions, the schedules for all product lines will be experiencing downward trends which have be changing on a weekly basis. Reminding everyone that schedules are always subject to change, the following schedules are what we were informed of this week.

4L80
The 4L80 is scheduled to remain at 600 units per day thru the Christmas shutdown period and thru January of 2009. However, the week of 12/15/09, the plan is to run normal production Monday thru Wednesday, then Thursday and Friday the Sub Assemblies Dept. as well as the Manufacturing areas will run service parts those 2 days. Depts. 0511, 513 which is the Main Build Line and Button Up areas are scheduled for a Workplace Organization Class.

On Monday, 12/22/08, the majority of the 4L80 Product Line is tentatively scheduled to be off on a temporary layoff which will be paid under short work week SUB benefit plan. Keep in mind that your last scheduled work day will be Friday, 12/19/08 (unless scheduled the weekend or following week) which will become a Holiday qualifying day under Paragraph 203 of National Agreement.

4T80
The 4T80 schedule will remain at 165 units per day up to the Christmas Shutdown period. Your last scheduled work day will be Tuesday 12/23/08 which will be a Holiday qualifying day under Paragraph 203 and a black out date under Doc. #8 of National Agreement.

During the month of January, there will be 3 weeks pulled out due to slow sales. The 4T80 is tentatively scheduled for a temporary lay off beginning Monday, 1/5/09 returning to work Monday, 1/26/09, at which time the schedule will drop to 80 units per day.

4T65

During the month of January, there is a possibility of 2 weeks being pulled out of schedules. The week beginning Mon, 1/5/09 is tentatively scheduled for a Temporary Lay off with the week of 1/12/09 still being contemplated.

Upon return from any of the above weeks, the schedules are slated for a reduction to approximately 1100 units per day.

YTO
The 6L80/90 schedule will remain a 1st shift operation thru the Christmas shutdown period at 540 units per day. Beginning Monday, 1/5/09, the entire product line is scheduled off for a 1 week Temporary Lay off.

Upon return from Lay off Monday, 1/12/09, YTO will return to a 2nd shift operation at 1080 units per day until further notice.

YTO’s qualifyng day will be Tuesday, 12/23/08 for Holiday Pay and a black out date under Doc. #8 of the National Agreement.

4T40
The 4T40 schedule will remain at 3200 a day thru the Christmas Shutdown period. Beginning Monday, 1/5/09 the entire Product Line will be off for a 1 week Temporary Lay off. Upon return from Lay off Monday, 1/12/09, the 4T40 schedule will be de-rated to a lower schedule, as soon as we’re notified we will put out information.

In General:
By utilizing excess members for backfill for Team Concept Training and doing Temporary Lay offs (taking weeks out the schedule) we have postponed indefinite lay offs for now and will have further discussions with Management on work plans and schedules in mid January.

We believe everyone recognizes the intense pressure facing GM and the UAW. There are many issues that are beyond our control, examples being market demand and the proposed Bridge Loan where tougher standards were given to the Auto Industries versus the Banking and Insurance Industries that were given a blank check with no business plan or concessions from it’s employees

What we can control is to stay focused on our work by continuing to the build the World’s best Powertrains and to continue to contact our Local and National Legislators. Local 735 Leadership wants to say Thank You to the Members who took the time to call their Representatives about the importance of saving the US Auto Industry. If you haven’t it is not too late to make contact or call. Please call the following numbers to be connected with your Legislators.

UAW/GM Council Meeting
On Wednesday, December 3rd there was a UAW National General Motors Council Meeting in Detroit about reopening the National Agreement. It was decided to eliminate the Jobs Bank by March 31st, 2009. Also, the International Union has agreed to defer the 2010 & 2011 VEBA payments. Other modifications will be forthcoming (less significant), This will come to a Ratification Vote by March 31, 2009.

VEBA Payments - 7 Billion – Jan 2010; 8.5 Billion – 2011

Union repaid later with 9% interest. Also some equity stake in the Company in return. It’s very clear that GM has to get the Bridge Loan to Survive thru December.

The vote was unanimous by all the Delegates present to support President Gettlefinger and the International Union Executive Board on their recommendations.

In closing:
Tough times don’t last , tough people do.
We need to hang in there, let our voices be heard through our Congressman and when economic conditions improve or funding becomes available our Plant will be in a position to compete for added volume for our 6 speed or new work.

We’ll stay in touch.
